“ಕನ್ನಡ ರತ್ನಕೋಶ” (Kannada to Kannada dictionary) Distribution drive by UKSL

Team UKSL has taken up a unique initiative of distributing ಕನ್ನಡ ರತ್ನಕೋಶ (Kannada to Kannada dictionary – published by Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Bengaluru) togovernment high schools in border taluks of North Karnataka. We intend to bring back the students or teachers to books from social media. We want to reintroduce usage of the dictionaries (hard copies) to find out the meaning of difficult words in Kannada.

We have covered 10 taluks of Belagavi and Karwar districts and distributed 275 dictionaries.

  1. Pilot distribution was successfully conducted on 30th January 2024 @ Chikkodi, Belagavi district.

BEO Mr. B A Mekanamaradi distributed the dictionaries to all the headmasters of 75 high schools under his jurisdiction. He appreciated the unique initiative taken up by UKSL trust and instructed the schools to encourage usage of these dictionaries. Big thanks to Mr. Suneel Khadd, President Teachers association, who has coordinated in successful execution of this project.

On behalf of Team UKSL a big thanks to following donors who contributed Rs 8000 in total.

2. Second lot of such distribution was successfully conducted on 6th February 2024 @ Hukkeri, Belagavi district.

BEO Mrs. Prabhavati Patil distributed the dictionaries to all the headmasters of 35 high schools under her jurisdiction. She appreciated the unique initiative taken up by UKSL trust and instructed the schools to encourage usage of these dictionaries.

Big thanks to UKSL trust member Mr. Ashok Mugalihal, who has coordinated in successful execution of this project.

3. 19th February 2024 @ Gokak, Belagavi district.

BEO Mr. Baligar distributed the dictionaries to all the headmasters of 17 high schools under his jurisdiction. He appreciated the unique initiative taken up by UKSL trust and informed the schools to encourage usage of these dictionaries.

Big thanks to UKSL trust member Mr. Mallikarjun Chaukasi, who has coordinated in successful execution of this project.

4. 27th February 2024 @ Nipani in Belagavi district.

BEO Mrs. Mahadevi Naik distributed the dictionaries to all the headmasters of Government High schools under her jurisdiction. She appreciated the unique initiative taken up by UKSL trust and informed the schools to encourage usage of these dictionaries.

On behalf of Team UKSL a big thanks to Mr. Raghavendra Kulkarni who has contributed Rs 1000.

5. 7th March 2024 @ Khanapur in Belagavi district.

BEO Mrs. Rajeshwari Kudachi distributed the dictionaries to all the headmasters of Government High schools under her jurisdiction. She appreciated the unique initiative taken up by UKSL trust and informed the schools to encourage usage of these dictionaries.

On behalf of Team UKSL a big thanks to well-wisher Mr. Prasad Paramashivappa who has contributed Rs 1000 towards this noble cause.

6. 11th March 2024 @ Athani in Belagavi district.

BEO Mr. M. B. Moratagi distributed the dictionaries to all the headmasters of Government High schools (37) under his jurisdiction. He appreciated UKSL’s initiative and thanked the office bearers and honourable members.

On behalf of Team UKSL a big thanks to sponsors Mr. B L Patil-President, Vimochana Sangha Athani, Mr. Gurunath Kulkarni, Mr. Jagannath Bilgi, Mr. Shivraj Bhusad and one anonymous donor. They have contributed Rs 4000 in total towards this noble cause.

7. 12th March 2024 @ Kagwad (new taluk) in Belagavi district.

BEO Mr. M. R. Munji distributed the dictionaries in person to four Government High schools under his jurisdiction. He appreciated UKSL’s initiative for contributing to Kannada language in the border areas of Karnataka.

On behalf of Team UKSL a big thanks to Mr. Basavaraj Bhuti for his contributions towards this initiative.

8. 15th March 2024 @ Mudalagi (new taluk) in Belagavi district.

BEO Mr. A. C. Mannikeri distributed the dictionaries to headmasters of 36 Government High schools under his jurisdiction. He appreciated UKSL’s initiative for contributing to Kannada language in the border areas of Karnataka.

On behalf of Team UKSL a big thanks to Mr. Ganapati Hegde, Mr. Raju Sadashivappa, Mr. Chetan Kumar (all are IBM company employees), Mr. Mukund Timmannavar and Mr. Prashant B Patil for their contribution towards this initiative. Total Contribution Rs 4000.

9. 18th March 2024 @ Karwar in Uttara Kannada district.

Dictionary distribution entered another border district of Karnataka which shares its borders with Goa!!

BEO Mr. Chandrahas P. Raikar distributed the dictionaries to headmasters of 10 Government High schools under his jurisdiction. He appreciated UKSL’s initiative for contributing to Kannada language in the border areas of Karnataka.

On behalf of Team UKSL a big thanks to Mr. Sridhar Hutagi and Mrs. Sangeeta Salunke for their contribution of Rs 1000 towards this noble cause.

10. 19th March 2024 @ Raibag in Belagavi district.

BEO Mr. Basavarajappa R distributed the dictionaries to headmasters of 40 Government High schools under his jurisdiction. He appreciated UKSL’s initiative for contributing to Kannada language in the border areas of Karnataka.
