Vanamahotsava 2022 report
Vanamahotsava 2022 report
4th Vanamahotsava celebration by UKSL trust was held in oorukunte mitturu village in kolar district. We celebrated this year’s Vanamahotsava on International Environment Day. What a coincidence!!
As usual we started preparation for the same a month in advance under the able guidance of Mr. Mahantesh Veerapur. Deepak Alur, Prabhu Savanur, Mahantesh Veerapur and Prakash Rajagoli visited the place a week before for dry run and identified the places for planting the saplings. A big thanks to Dr. Jagadeesh (DNA Life), Mr. Venkataramanappa (Mandal panchayat president) and Mr. Srinivas Gowda (school headmaster) and many more from the village. Without their help in providing the school premises for conducting small function and arranging the pits along with Kalyani(water body) the function would have not been successful.
Nature enthusiasts in three busses from across Bengaluru gathered to celebrate Vanamahotsava and spread the importance of saving trees in particular and saving earth in general.
After a gap of two years, we have conducted Vanamahotsava, and the response was overwhelming. 120+ participants with all age group planted more than 200 saplings.
Thanks to sponsors for breakfast (Mrs and Mr. Suresh Tigadi), Lunch (Mrs and Mr. Prakash Rajagoli) and evening high tea (Mrs and Mr. Deepak Alur). Thanks to donors for the saplings as well.
We donated notebooks to the school students and dress material to the schoolteachers as a token of appreciation for their involvement in Vanamahotsava function.
On the way back home we visited Avani betta, did trekking and enjoyed the nature.
Thanks to school authorities of oorukunte mitturu who facilitated working lunch and high tea at the school premises. This school run by Dr Jagadish and others is a model school. By the way this village is birthplace of former lokayukta of Karnataka Late Shri N Vekatachaliah.
